August 28th - 30th: Tim’m welcomes long time friend and comrade Maurice Jamal for Brothas Speaking II: The Remix!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 14th, 2009 by timmwest

Maurice and I go WAAAAAY back…. like to the 90s.  LOL.  Seriously, it’s seldom that I get to share the wealth of friendship with larger communities hungry for the kind of change Maurice and I talked about often as burgeoning artists in Oakland, CA in the late 90s.  Years later we’re both celebs in our own right, but no less committed to the social justice and change we’d been preparing for all of our lives.  On August 28th, the program for which I work, FUSION Program of St. Hope Foundation, will be presenting the Houston debut of Maurice’s latest film “Friends & Lovers”.  On Saturday, we will engage the community in a series of discussions about relationships, dating, stigma, etc… And on Sunday…That’s RIGHT… The Front Porch returns to Houston at a new exciting location: Club True Colors 7pm - 9pm.  Ever heard Maurice the poet?!  The man can spit!

Please come share in this community celebration!  I’ve boasted to Maurice how much I love Houston, so I have no intentions on showing him any less that a warm welcome, lots of great fun, and a community of brothas and sistas who support those who work to represent us in full color!
